Lessons
Piano lessons are given to students of all ages, from beginner to diploma! A variety of musical styles are explored, with a wide range of repertoire to choose from. Functional skills such as harmonizing a lead line, improvisation, and composition can be explored if the student wishes. Traditional classical training in preparation for conservatory exams is offered, as well as exam preparation for contemporary music exams.

Studio Policy
Registration Fee
A $20 non-refundable fee must accompany each registration form.
Tuition
Tuition is based on 36 lessons (32 private lessons and 4 group lessons). Tuition is calculated by the number of lessons, not by the month. Fees will be discussed at the initial interview.
Missed and Cancelled Lessons
No refund will be made for missed lessons. A maximum of two missed lessons will be rescheduled only in the case of student illness, death in the family, or inclement weather. Please call before noon the day of the lesson if you wish to cancel. Please note there are no make-ups for group lessons.
Cancellation of Registration
One month’s notice is required in the event of lesson termination by the student. In the event of repeated failure to prepare assigned material, disruptive behaviour, or irregular attendance, lessons will be terminated by the teacher. A one month trial period with parental notification will precede lesson termination.
Music
For your convenience, I will purchase the required music and send you home an invoice. The fees are payable upon receipt. You should expect to spend $100 per year on music.
Examinations
If students or parents should wish it, preparation for the Royal Conservatory of Music, Conservatory Canada, Canadian National Conservatory of Music, or the London College of Music (UK board) will be given. Students must be prepared to work consistently well before the application date; it is not acceptable to work hard only after the application has been sent in. A mock exam may be given before the application date to determine if the student is ready to take the exam.
Performance Opportunities
Most years, opportunities to play in public include a Christmas music play-a-thon at a local coffee shop (raising funds for charity), a duet/ensemble recital in February, “Sonatina Sunday” in April, and a Spring Recital in June.
